Leap of Faith

You will never do anything in this world without courage.

It is the greatest quality of the mind next to honor.

Aristotle

Have you ever had a great fear, something that you really couldn’t imagine facing, something that you truly believed that you would never be able to do? I did. For years I have had a great fear of heights and deep and debilitating nervousness about speaking in public. Both seemed to me impossible and insurmountable problems that I could never dream of overcoming and both felt equally likely to cause severe injury or death. Fate seems to have other plans for me and given the turn of events over the past few years, the education I have had and the business we have created as a result, it seems I am destined to stretch and move beyond my original self and demonstrate, (to myself primarily) once and for all the value and validity of that which we teach.

The Road Less Travelled

We went as a family to see “We Bought A Zoo” with Matt Damon a few months ago, and in it he tells his teenage and hostile son:

“All you need is 20 seconds of insane courage and I promise you something great will come out of it”.

This captured our imagination and we really took this concept to heart. When one of the younger members of our household refuses to go upstairs in the dark and get something from the extremely ominous and scary bedroom – you can hear the call echoed around the house “20 seconds of insane courage” followed by brave pounding of feet and a lightening dash to the offending room and back. Our family knows the true meaning of courage.

This short video was made as a tribute to all we have overcome over the past few years. The many leaps of faith we have taken both personally and collectively and the unwavering faith we have in a life that can energise, inspire and serve. This past month we have travelled to Dubai and France, run our first international workshop  “Who’s The Boss of You?  and scaled previously unimaginable heights. I am forever grateful for the life we now lead, the possibilities that have opened up to us and the joy that pushing ourselves beyond our comfort zone and into uncertainty has afforded us. We are grateful. Powerful Positive People have learned how to fly…

  1. Hi Karen
How inspiring. One would never know you were once afraid of public speaking. Congrats on the international workshop. Now you really can call yourself an international presenter.

    1. It’s true, bullying is not coinflct, it’s abuse and should be dealt with like any other abusive situation. The hardest part of bullying is trying to find out who is the bully and why they are picking on others.

  2. Wow, wow, WOW! That is so cool! What an awesome metaphor for where you are going. No stopping you now! I got a real thrill out of watching that video. Stellar stuff. Great message. Congratulations! Blessings, K xx
